The Big Picture

Ahh, SLC: One of the only places in Utah where you can experience "normal" liquor laws.

Places to Eat

Places worth eating / getting a decent meal

  • Slim pickings. Best bet is likely the Squatters in terminal C. They brew great beer (Squatters was the first micro-brew in SLC), and the food is at least a decent representation of the very good food served in the Squatters downtown.

Getting Through Security

Tips for getting through security quickly

  • Security in Delta's joint Term C & D can be a bear. If the line is really long, walk down to Term E. It's often shorter there.
  • There is a little-known and little-used sky cap stand in the parking lot for the Delta terminal. It's on level two; when you go up the escalator to take the skybridge to the terminal, go left into the parking garage instead. If the line for the curb-side sky caps has 30 people in it, the parking lot sky cap station will have five.
  • During the Olympics they amped up the magnometers at SLC, and near as I can tell, they've never turned them back down. If you manage to not "beep" at every other airport, plan on beeping at SLC. Take it all off -- watch, belt -- everything.

Getting a Cocktail

Where to find a good drink and atmosphere

  • SLC has liquor laws unique Utah, meaning you can get a hard drink without having to purchase a membership to a private club (yes, you read that correctly). The microbrews in Term C and D are quite good.

Clubs

Tips about frequent flyer clubs at this airport

  • The Crown Room in SLC serves free drinks, and often has out extra fixins for getting your bloody mary just right.

Killing a few Hours

Ideas for how to spend a few hours of delay or layover

  • It's only a 10 minute cab ride to downtown Salt Lake (if you can find a cab).
  • There's also a decent golf course at the airport ... if you had hours to kill, it would be easy to go down there, grab a demo club, and hit balls on the range.
